If you want a full list of useful things, just wiki ISS, or look on NASA's website (I'd go with the latter, seeing as how NASA is a govt. entity, and therefore their website is a maze).As for the de-orbiting in 7 years, that's just because NASA is government run and therefore a load of *corrupt file* and on top of that, it is United States, and everyone knows how much of a disposable society we Yankees have become. The shuttle delay didn't help either.So, no, the ISS isn't a perfect, cost efficient thing, but nothing the govt. does is. Don't let it ruin your views of space travel and presence as a whole, please.References :
